Statement On Flooding In NSW Impacting ARTC Network 25 May

ARTC

Statement attributable to an ARTC spokesperson:

Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC) is working to restore operations following major flooding across the Mid North Coast and Hunter and minor flooding south of Sydney.

Southern Highlands operations between Moss Vale and Unanderra are operating as normal.

On the Hunter Valley Network, all lines have reopened at Sandgate and Kooragang North Fork, however small operational impacts persist while signalling infrastructure recovers.

The North Coast corridor remains closed, and works are ongoing to repair landslips adjacent to the track.

Track recertification will continue over the next 24 hours, and we anticipate a return to normal operations on Monday for freight and XPT services.

Public transport remains impacted; limited passenger trains have resumed on the Hunter line, however buses continue to replace trains between Maitland, Telarah and Dungog. On the North Coast line XPT's are being replaced by coaches.

Travellers are encouraged to visit Transportnsw.info or call 13 22 32 for assistance in planning their journey.

We appreciate the patience of the travelling public and our customers as we work to restore full service.
