Cyclist Critically Injured in Surry Hills Crash

A push bike rider has been critically injured in a crash at Surry Hills.

About 6.50pm yesterday (Sunday 1 June 2025), emergency services responded to reports of a crash between a push bike rider and a truck at the intersection of Bourke Street and Rainford Street, Surry Hills.

NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the rider – a 40-year-old man – at the scene before he was taken to St Vincent's Hospital in a critical condition.

The 34-year-old male driver of the truck was uninjured. He was taken to the same hospital for mandatory testing.

Officers from Surry Hills Police Area Command established a crime scene that was examined by specialist police.

As investigations continue police are urging anyone who may have witnessed the crash – or was in the area at the time with any available dashcam/mobile phone footage – to contact Surry Hills Police Station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
